Biomass to Biochar

Turning farm residue into high-quality biochar, continuously.

Dawson Energy designs, builds and commissions continuous pyrolysis plants that convert agricultural and forest residue into biochar.

Our systems are already operating successfully on the ground, running automatically and around the clock. Once up to temperature, each plant fires itself on its own syngas.

The plants turn farm and forest residue into high-quality biochar and biocoal, and recover bio-oil and bio-vinegar as co-products — giving consistent char for soil application, compost, filtration and fuel markets.

Why Dawson

Consistent char, continuously.

Proven in operation

Our continuous pyrolysis systems are built, commissioned and running.

Low energy cost

After start-up, the plant runs on syngas from its own process.

Automatic & continuous

Feed goes in and char comes out, with no batch handling.

Limited manpower

A small crew runs the whole plant.

Flexible feedstock

Soft and hard feeds, across a wide range of moisture levels.

High quality char

Controlled, uniform pyrolysis gives consistent biochar.

Safety by design

Air-tight feeding, inert-gas purging, pressure protection, flame arrestors and PLC interlocks.

Low running cost

Low energy, low manpower and continuous output keep cost per tonne down.

Plant capacities

Sized to your biomass supply.

5TPD
10TPD
24TPD
50TPD

Available in 5, 10, 24 and 50 tonnes per day (TPD) of biomass input.

Biochar output depends on the raw material and the quality required.
